Starting May 27, I will start a new job for the next two months. I will be staying on site for most of the time during the week. Because of this, I will not be able to code as much.

During this time, I will be trying to work on setting up a layout of updates I want to work on when I get back home, so that I have a clear path of what I'm going to be doing going forward. During this time, I'll also be making a ton of polls on Discord to gauge players' interest in a variety of things, so keep an eye on that. Another thing I wanna do while I'm away is go through the suggestions and bug glitches sections on the forums and clear out old/outdated/unpopular suggestions.

I will try my best to still make some type of update once a month, but I'm not going to promise it.

Welcome back to the latest Community PvM event. This week we will be battling the Barrows Brothers. The Barrows Brothers can be found deep in Morytania (Minigame teleports > Barrows). Throughout this event all players will also be able to use the ::event command to teleport directly to the Barrows.

This event features 3 major perks:

• +20% drops in Risky Barrows
• Chance to obtain a full barrows set from the Barrows Chest
• Extra loot from the Barrows Chest

Today's update brings in some minor fixes to the last update, courtesy of @Brant

Updates:

• Mystic smoke staff now gives the proper 10% boost for standard spell book: viewtopic.php?t=87935
• The newest box sets are now tradable on ge: viewtopic.php?t=88255
• Black cape now drops from all monsters that also drop the other capes: viewtopic.php?f=134&t=88163
• Fixes 2b attack cape model typo
• Other minor fixes

Along with the release of this update I will also take the opportunity to perform an OS upgrade on the hypervisor (= the machine on which everything runs). The main reason for the upgrade is that the latest OS / driver versions allow us to use more advanced techniques for DDoS mitigation, particularly without affecting legitimate traffic. You can think of this more or less like upgrading Windows 10 to WIndows 11. A lot of things can go wrong and may require manual fixing. As such I can't give you a precise estimate, but I expect the server will be down for 30-60 minutes.

While the server is down parts of the website will also be inoperative. Donations and vote rewards will not be processed, highscores will be down, user registration on the forums will be unavailable as well as UCP account linking. I strongly recommend not voting or donating during this period.

EDIT: Everything back online, upgrades went smoothly without a hitch.

As most of you know by now the server has been suffering ongoing DDoS attacks for the past 24h. This is almost certainly because RuneLocus has selected us as Server of the Week due to the vote store update, so one of the other top servers is paying a DDoS-for-hire service to make sure those new players don't go to us. There is also a ransom demand from the DDoS-for-hire guys but we don't think it would be a good idea to pay up, because the rival RSPS paying for the attacks will most likely just switch to another DDoS service.

We are doing what we can to establish a more permanent solution but for the time being the interruptions and downtime will continue. We apologize and will do our best to make up for it after the attacks are under control.
