Glacors should be personalized (each player their own cave)

Glacors should be in single-combat (note: if this is chosen, all spawned glacytes will be able to attack a player at the same time)

Glacors should be in single-combat, but glacors and glacytes should be able to damage other players if they stand too close (just like RS)

Time for some glacors

Post by Mike » Tue Mar 03, 2015 3:04 pm

Considering the steadfast, ragefire and glaiven boots now look good enough to be released to the players, a few things need to be decided yet.

For starters, there's the "is this for everyone or just donators/premiums?" question. Well, since it's been a long time since Donators got their own monster to kill, I'd like to make the available to Donators only. The drops (and boots) can however be sold to everyone, including regular players.

However, one thing I don't know the answer to yet, is whether the glacors should be "personalized" (every player can has their own cave - similar to Bork) or for everyone (all players in the same cave, such as the tormented demons)? If the latter would be chosen, then we still need to decide whether the area should be single- or multicombat.
Note that whenever a glacor is at half health, it will spawn 3 glacytes.

Do keep in mind a few technical difficulties - I know that Glacors work in some specific ways in RuneScape, but we won't be able to implement all of that behaviour. However, that isn't necessary, just aslong as players find them to be a unique and enjoyable new challenge.

Then there's also the stats of the boots of course. Since these boots do not exist in 2007scape, I have nothing to go on. I guess it would be interesting to look at our current best boots (such as dragon boots, infinity boots and ranger boots) as well as our hybrid boots, and find a nice balance for them. The boots will obviously be a rare drop. There are no poll options for their stats, so please suggest stats in a comment of your own.

Lastly, I would like to glacor cave to be somewhere 'out of the way', as in not so easy to access (unlike tormented demons and such). I'm considering to set up a cave entrance in the north-west of the deep wilderness (but the cave itself will not be part of the wilderness either way).

Once all of this has been deciding, actually imlementing and releasing the update should just be a matter of days.
Let me know what your thoughts are and if you have any

So hyped. Think the whole wilderness cave idea is abit steep, why not put it somewhere that's not close to a bank but not wildy. Somewhere like the icy place north of Rellekka?

i feel it should be for everyone, although. I think there should be an option to pay x amount of gold to have your own cave, much like frost dragons. Although at a lower drop rate (like morph realm)

Glacors should not be like the fight caves where it is impossible for any other players to join in; they should be communal.

these stats are almost the same as the current d boots, ranger boots and inf boots. I'd like to see these glacors boots to be a bit stronger.

If you have a look at the Dragon boot stats ingame you'll actually notice a significant difference between the two.

Silly Re Incarnate, morph realm has lower stats, not rates.
