I only play this server as an Iron. Please don't make me show you how it is abusive
because if this is allowed I'm about to take full advantage until it is changed and then just stake the gp I make. Just trying to help out
I'll post screenies. Give me a week or so
Friend I've gotta tell you that this response is very typical.
Once every few months someone will say report something and when they're told that it's not against the rules and/ or there's nothing we can do about it they say "Fine then I'll just do it too, that'll show you."
But we just said it's allowed, so why would it change anything if you also do it. You're not going to be "showing how abusive" it is because people have already been doing it for a long time.
If you actually feel strongly that it should be changed instead of just going and doing it too you should make posts on the forums in the Discuss Ideas or Propose Ideas section talking about it.

I appreciate the go-ahead & responses. I'll share my thoughts in suggestions once I have some results and see what people think.

Decided to follow through and share my results with you all.
@Church @Fungamer @Hunkofman1 @Raj
Suggestions are pretty spammed right now. One with a similar topic, so I won't be posting there for now.
Note that when I first posted this report, I thought gorillas gave 5 pkp per kill because of the way notifications were saying I had received 5. I realized this was not every kill. I had planned on cashing in on the new gmaul handles and suiciding for 750m each. I won't be doing that because I obviously didn't end up with 30k+ points.
I did tasks on other apps/browsers while afk. With the chat box showing on bottom of monitor to watch for drops. Left acc there a couple nights. I'd estimate total time there to be around 60-80 hrs over the week on my account "Podge". 7,787 kc.
Loot totaled around 15-18b:
- Missed two Zenyte of my own, looted one off another player who was afk (at 1 in 2k my luck was shit
)
- Built full light ballista
- Medium clues go straight to inventory rather than ground, sold caskets 1-1.2b each
- 6500 Pkp points
XP Gained:
- 810M attack
- 440m Strength, Def
Not a huge deal but keep in mind this is zero effort. Never touching the client unless I see loot on my chat feed. Medium clue hitting invy is an instant 1b when I come back to acc.
I initially was going to run two accounts there but tbh I don't care that much. If I ever start playing eco side, I'd probably do it for passive started gp.
When
Do what you will w/ the results

Gaining XP or items while being AFK falls under the same punishment.
This is poor wording, can we just get rid of it? It serves no purpose beyond confusion. Based on nearly a decade of discussion, this doesn't reflect the motivation for the rule. Everything else does though; the idea is that each input must be human made. What the game does on its own is not against the rules. You can't fail a random event while afk if you don't click something to spawn it, unless random events can occur without clicks now.

Nah, great point. I don't get randoms while afk. I still think endless afk is a little OP. However, I'm more impartial to it after testing.
Kind of cringe leaving my 2k PC running nonstop for an RSPS acc lmao

Agreed, but we heavily lean into the idea that RSPSes are *necessarily* supposed to be much easier than OSRS. Whether or not a grind should be difficult has always been a gray area and varies from gameplay mechanic to gameplay mechanic
IMO, you shouldn't be able to do literally nothing and gain stuff indefinitely. But that's just my opinion, could be worth a vote. It shouldn't be against the rules, but if we decide to go that route it should be hard coded with something like a logout timer or an alternative solution people collectively come up with. De-aggroing is probably way more involved than a logout timer

De-aggroing zones (it needs to be map/zone based since the NPC state is disposed of on death) would be the biggest headache of all time. That is how OSRS does it and it's super weird.
By far the simplest solution is disabling auto-retaliate if a red or yellow click isn't done for 60 minutes. Or if some other condition is met but I imagine that checking for walking and red click actions is a good combination of sufficient and easy to do (in theory).

Would this cause a player to risk death/items if a monster stays aggro?
Would it be possible to add a 60min logout timer that is triggered by combat and just ends/cancels when yellow/red clicks occur?

For the first question, yes, if not, we may as well home teleport people. Which maybe isn't a bad idea either.
For the second question, it would be possible, but it's not something we wanna do. If you wanna log out, hit the log out button. There is no sense in forcing actions (like a home teleport) without a good reason for it (like highscores integrity issues because of AFKing).
A question for the rest of the staff team, maybe there's a better forums section for this?

May as well, this is evidently a denied report and the discussion should continue elsewhere. I'm going to copy this thread over to gen discussion and we can continue there while [the old thread] gets locked by someone who handles reports.
Edit:
Welcome to the copied thread.
