The browser probably had to cache the file. I bet if you were to delete the browsing cache it would go back to laggy

Is it laggy if you open it in another tab (right click - open image in new tab)? Right now there are multiple animations on one page and I wonder if that's contributing.
Was having the same issue. Laggy on this page, laggy when "open image in new tab", laggy when downloaded.

Came back an hour later and its looking smooth now

Interesting, do images like these get added to your browser cache?

Edit: @Brant seems to think so, I'll defer to his expertise

It's definitely a massive gif, I'll work on downsizing. This is a prototype since I just figured out how to do this

Yeah, it stores things like images and files into the cache so that way next time it doesn't have to reload them causing slowdown on website loading. I found that out when I created my first website. It would download my files, but if I were to upload new ones, the browser wouldn't load them in until I cleared the browsers cache causing the website to fully reload and download the new files.

OT, how big of a gif are we talking?

Full quality and frame rate puts it at 42 MB. I can go from 60 fps to 30 fps and effectively halve the size, and then also lower render quality a few notches to get it below 20.

I'll have to think about what else I can remove but that's probably a place to start

That would be exactly why. The slower your Internet speed, the longer it takes to load

Is it just me or is the animation on this incredibly laggy compared to the other two posted previously?
It runs just fine on my end, but I'd be curious to know more about why it might be laggy for you.

Otherwise what browser are you on? How much RAM does your computer have? And which browser are you using?
It's very laggy while on the forums. When I open it in a new tab, it's not as bad, but it's still laggy. (Mind you, this is several days later)
